About

Hi, I'm Erin! I like to horse around, but if you need an innovative, diligent, practical creative with a wide array of skills (both in and out of the professional sphere) for your team, I can find a way to fill the niche and work my way into becoming a mainstay of your team! I don't think about things in a normal way and people really seem to like that about me.

If you'd like a more professionally compiled version (with and without pictures) then I'd suggest skipping to my resume below. Or click one of the button links below to jump to the blurb you're interested in.

But if you want the IN-DEPTH tour, then just keep scrolling, friend. There's a lot to see here!

NBC Universal (2015-2023)

After college, I wanted to pay off my loans and my car. So I found a spot at NBC Universal and did just that. I was a Post Production Technician, which is a fancy way of saying “TV Production Hatrack.” Main responsibilities were Standards and Practice verification which entailed timings were correct, ensuring there were no editing errors, fixes were made and consistent between the different episode versions, nudity blurred, curses bleeped/censored properly (they varied between networks), slurs and problematic topical content flagged, personal information was properly blurred, CC was accurate, on time and censored correctly, PLUS all the specs were correct and our data sheets prepped and released for automation. My proudest moment I got a kudos for was flagging an episode of Prisoners where a transgender inmate was deadnamed and misgendered throughout the entirety of the episode. I'd also write and develop SOP (training guides) and I’d train new hires on the more difficult networks (Bravo and Oxygen). There were some other technical operations I did such as applying CC, recording feeds, delivering files and promo materials, but that was fill in as needed.

Due to my Animation/Illustration background, the plan was to move me into our Creative Editing Department. I spent a week learning After Effects from a coworker and some YouTube videos, and then I was unofficially running our snipes department. I instructed new hires, edited and simplified templates, and outputted hundreds of lower third graphics a day while making and maintaining our Smart Sheets with conditional formatting. Eventually, management let me create end credit squeezes for shows and also appointed me the lead of maintaining our internal portfolio site for our creative department. I self-taught myself a little HTML to customize it a bit, but I also made a quarterly email check-in for work submissions and organized/managed our Mediasilo database so the editors always had their best sizzles, promos, and teasers ready to show.

However, our Creative Editing Department was unfortunately disbanded, and I no longer had a position or place at NBC to grow into. So I began to dip more into freelancing before amicably parting ways in 2023.

I still talk to a good chunk of my old coworkers, though. A lot of good, hardworking people there.

Marvel Entertainment

While working at NBC, I got a gig as a temp for Marvel Entertainment which was super, SUPER exciting! My job was to take comic pages, cut up the characters, redraw the backgrounds and figures, replicate the style of the original artist, and make it as easy to animate in After Effects as possible. After five years, unfortunately, my position became a casualty of restructuring, but it was nevertheless a very cool experience to contribute to the Marvelverse! It’s really awesome to see things you’ve worked on ON the official Marvel Youtube page!

The MAD Cartographer (2024 - Present)

Around the holiday I was accepted to join the MAD Cartographers as a freelance contractor and since then, I've been making maps every month for their Patreon! I love making maps because you really have to think about so many different elements simultaneously. Like, this isn't just a pretty gridded map, you need to think about how it functions mechanically for the players AND how to sell it as a real, lived-in space. I always like to think things like "okay, if there is a rogue in the party or a tabaxi/aarakokra monk running around this stage, they're gonna get to x point fast. Am I okay with that?" or "if the boss has x ability, how can I ensure they get as to mess with the players while also giving said players places to duck behind/regroup?" I love thinking about this stuff.

Freelance Work (2015-Present)

No Good Deed

I have a lot of story ideas or characters I write about but these two in particular hold a special place in my heart. They're part of a bigger story, but in order to understand how much work it would be to bring that to fruition, I went ahead and did a short graphic novel. But I think a little bit more than teaching myself to make a book, I really just wanted to bring these two character I loved to life and have them exist in some way outside of my head.

Also, this is very much inspired by a formative trip to the zoo where I excitedly watched an elk give birth.

You can read it in full on Webtoon, now!

Hidden Tale

I was really blessed to get the opportunity to work on a visual novel called A Hidden Tale By Bernard Zeiger and Llana Grunberg Weiss! I got to work on the backgrounds for these puppies and I can tease a few images here. When it's released, expect full art and a link here, but I can send the full photos for portfolio reviews upon request.

The Core Knowledge Foundation reached out to me to illustrate for their Voices in History™ collection. It was a fun project, and it's super rewarding to see Jackie's story available for young readers.

The author, Dionna L. Mann, has several other books on her website as well, if you're interested.

And if you'd like a copy for yourself you can see it here!

Jackie Robinson An All-Around Athlete Who Broke the Color Line in Baseball

An encounter I wrote made it in to "Collective Encounters Volume II" on the Dungeon Master's Guild. I made several maps, tokens, and ran it for my players who really enjoyed it! Ended up making a little art for it too, just for fun.

Lotic.Ai

I was fortunate enough to connect with Bill Welser of Lotic.Ai and I've done multiple editorial pieces, infographics for slides and pitch decks, headers, and most recently, I made several illustrations for his Ted Talk (linked below!.) You'll see countless illustrations for Lotic.Ai in my gallery, and some screenshots of him during the talk in front of my art.
